Simply put: The Hurst Ranch Gold Camp’s mission is to teach about life and living in the Mother Lode during later half of the 1800’s, and presenting California ’s history so students find it entertaining as well. We offer students the opportunity to learn history hands-on; they go back in time and see the places where it all took place. We have allot of fun too! History of California ’s Mother Lode can be presented in a classroom, but imagine how much more can be learned going back in time, seeing, touching and feeling the place where history happened. Hurst Ranch Gold Camp staff is knowledgeable, insightful with over half a century of experience. Staff tells true stories about characters passed down through the years. Our hope is that our young guests gain an appreciation of California ’s history while realizing they too will be responsible for their own choices in life. We feel our method of teaching history hands-on, hardships included enhances a student’s appreciation for life, making them thankful they live in this day & age with their entire future ahead waiting.
